Event Information

Celebrate an unusual urban tree - the Medlar!

Popular in ancient times, Henry VIII loved them (the Victorians did NOT). There happens to be a cluster of them behind the famous Book Barge, Word on the Water - docked in the canal behind Kings Cross Station adjacent to Granary Square.

Join our "Medlar Party" with music & talks by author Gerit Quealy of Botanical Shakespeare on how the Medlar appears in the plays (rather naughty).

We’ll be working with Ruby Violet Ice Cream & others to offer tastings of various medlar treats. Come to Granary Square, have some ice cream, and learn more about the curious medlar.

Featuring:

Word on the Water.

Book Barge at Granary Square.
