Trees can deliver huge health, social, climate and wellbeing benefits in cities. We would like to invite you to come and hear about our work, and how we have been working to bring these benefits to more people in Birmingham.

Event Information

Birmingham Tree People have been working with Birmingham City Council, National Trust and Woodland Trust to plant trees in Nechells, Bromford and Hodge Hill this year. Trees can deliver huge health, social, climate and wellbeing benefits in cities. We would like to invite you to come and hear about our work, and how we have been working to bring these benefits to more people in Birmingham.

This might be for you if you work with community groups, or are active in your community and would like to know more about how trees are established and maintained and how you might go about playing a role in helping your neighbourhood/city to get more of them.

We would like to invite attendees to stay for a networking and research lunch from approximately 12.15pm-1:00pm. All food and refreshments will be provided.

Please note: part of the morning will involve a short walk to some of the planting sites. This will be at a relatively slow pace and last around 45 minutes.

Contributors

Birmingham TreePeople

Our non-profit organisation was set up as part of the Tree Warden Scheme, by BCC‘s Tree Officers, in 2016. The charity, that came to be known as Birmingham TreePeople, consists of knowledgeable professionals within the arboriculture industry, prepared to use their skills and expertise to plant, protect and promote trees and the urban forest.

The urban forest is far more important than given credit for. The canopies of trees provide shade and help reduce urban heating, they help with storm-water drainage, and their production of oxygen helps offset the carbon footprint, improving the air quality. That’s why Birmingham TreePeople, and the rest of our Urban Forest Volunteers, undertake every project with this in mind. We want to make the city a better, greener place to live.
