Black Girls Hike event in partnership with The Hive. There will be a range of nature based activities and a gentle walk around Epping Forest to get us active. We will meet at Chingford Station.

Event Information

Part of the Urban Tree Festival, this event is in partnership with the Epping Forest Heritage Trust and The Hive (formerly known as Suntrap) based in Epping Forest.

This walk will start at Chingford Station with a leisurely stroll through the forest to the Hive, learning about its history and ecology on the way. Once at the Hive, we'll have lunch and then get crafting.

What to bring:

  • Walking boots / shoes with ankle support essential.

  • Food and water

  • Extra layers

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Rucksack

  • Please ensure any medication is bought with you e.g., asthma pump or epi pen

The Hive (formerly Suntrap)

Nestled deep in Epping Forest, the Hive offers outdoor educational activities for schools, families, adults, and community groups. With a legacy of over fifty years, proud holders of the Department for Education approved national Council for Learning Outside the Classroom award many of our users return again and again. Come to The Hive and learn about our natural environment first hand finding out about positive actions that tackle climate and ecological emergencies.

Location & Info

Tea and coffee will be provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Difficulty: Easy/Moderate – Walk through Epping Forest to the Hive. Expect some inclines, uneven ground, there are well made paths for part of the walk and some open fields, which will be muddy if there has been rainfall.

Age: Families and children. Babies under 2 do not need to be registered on the event.

Start Time: 11.00am

End Time: 3.30pm

Meeting point: Chingford Station and will be detailed in the confirmation email.

Most tickets for the Urban Tree Festival are free, but we ask attendees to please donate if they can.

We suggest a donation of £5 per event ticket and you can easily donate by clicking the donate button. Larger donations are always welcomed.
