Create a Tree Trail
With TiCL
Ever wished you could create a museum-type guide for your park or town for visitors?
With TiCL you can create a self guided walk for visitors, helping them navigate to, and between, points of interest. and providing them with information and relevant web links at each point.
What’s this got to do with trees?
You can use the TiCL system free of charge to create an App Tree Trail guide to your park or town. TiCL App will guide visitors between the trees and provide them with virtual information chosen by you at each location. This could be for education or entertainment purposes, it might be information about the tree species or it could be poetry, music or video - the story is yours to curate.
For the Urban Tree Festival the Friends of Wandsworth Park created a Shakespeare Tree Trail in their park. As visitors explore the park they are directed to trees that occur in Shakespeare’s works and are presented with relevant quotes about each tree species as they stand next to the trees. Listen to Gerit Quealy, author of Botanical Shakespeare, interview Simon Edwards, creator of TiCL about the Shakespeare Tree Trail.
Stephen Middleton used TiCL to create a Tree Trail of different trees of interest in Alexandra Park. He linked each tree with his Flickr account so that as the visitor discovers the trees physically they connect with him virtually.
So for example he pointed out this landmark 200 yr old fallen oak with TiCL and linked it to his Flickr account for pictures of the tree just after it had fallen Perhaps this has given you ideas for a Tree Trail in your park or town.
You can find full instructions for creating a Tree Trail on The Tree Council website here... but if you have any questions or ideas you’d like to discuss with us first don’t hesitate to contact us on contact@ticl.me
