An annual celebration organized by Friends of Highams Park and the Highams Park Planning Group, featuring family-friendly activities and showcasing local organisations.
Join ecologist and nature recovery lead for London, Francis Castro, for an informative circular stroll around this wonderful part of Epping Forest, Highams Park Lake. Explore its special trees and nature while learning about the vital role trees play (both old and young) and how they, along with other habitats, shape the Forest ecosystem we see today.
Gain insights into the ongoing conservation work across Epping Forest that contributes to national nature recovery targets. This event is part of the Highams Park Spring Festival.
There will be two walks on the same day:
11:30am – 12:30pm
1:30pm – 2:30pm

Francis Castro
Francis is an Ecologist and Local Authority Officer with over 19 years of experience. He currently works as a Biodiversity Specialist at the Greater London Authority, leading the London Natural Recovery Strategy. Francis is also a Trustee of the Epping Forest Heritage Trust.
Previously, he worked for the London Borough of Redbridge and Vision RCL for over 17 years as the Nature Conservation Ranger Team Leader, managing community engagement and ecological projects including the Hainault Forest restoration.

Most tickets for the Urban Tree Festival are free, but we ask attendees to please donate if they can.
We suggest a donation of £5 per event ticket and you can easily donate by clicking the donate button. Larger donations are always welcomed.
