The city has a unique collection of 20,000 elm trees. Local resident and national elm expert, Peter Bourne and Vivienne Barton will lead a walk.
The same walk will be offered twice during the week - on Saturday 13th May and Thursday 18th May.
Limited spaces, please book early to avoid disappointment!
Event Information
The city has a unique collection of 20,000 elm trees. Local resident and national elm expert, Peter Bourne and Vivienne Barton will lead a walk starting on the east side of St Peter's Church, York Place BN1 4GU through Valley Gardens finishing in Pavilion Gardens.
Book your place free. A maximum of 20 walkers for each walk allowed.
The same walk will be offered twice during the week - on Saturday 13th May and Thursday 18th May, meeting at 10.15am. Please note: tickets for these walks later in the day were issued in error, if you have booked tickets for these walks please attend either of the 10.15am walks.
Contributors
Peter Bourne a well-known elm tree expert, who has immersed himself in elm trees and is one of the leading UK authorities on them. He also writes and edits Wikipedia pages about elms.
Vivienne Barton, was inspired by the Urban Tree Festival’s Simon Edwards during lock down, and she has created elm tree trail maps and leaflets in 2021 & 2022 for Brighton including:

She was also a founder member of Brighton and Hove Green Spaces Forum, a volunteer organisation set up to provide an independent voice and communication hub for community groups working in Brighton & Hove’s parks and open spaces.

Most tickets for the Urban Tree Festival are free, but we ask attendees to please donate if they can.
We suggest a donation of £5 per event ticket and you can easily donate by clicking the donate button. Larger donations are always welcomed.
Donations are essential to running the Urban Tree Festival.
