#NewLeaf

From Save Our Street Trees Northampton

Save Our Street Trees would like you to turn over a #NewLeaf and create a virtual urban forest in your window for the Urban Tree Festival! Create and build a tree in your window out of paper and design leaves every day to slowly build up a tree canopy. You can use pens, paints, fabric, foil – whatever you have around the house.

Each #NewLeaf can have a message for passers-by such as tree poems, quotes, facts or calming/motivating messages to make them smile. We hope your brightly coloured trees and leaves will help raise awareness of the importance of trees in town and cities, and how we all love a greener view from our windows!

We can’t wait to see what you have created so be sure to share your fantastic designs with Save Our Street Trees via Twitter @savestreettrees and Facebook/Instagram @saveourstreettrees using the hashtag #NewLeaf.

Here's a fun activity you can do at home with your family, in support of Save Our Street Trees Northampton! 🎨🖼️🌳

Simply download the Step-by-Step guide and templates here, and cut out your leaves and trunk. If you’re not sure how to draw your giant tree, we have a handy video to help you scale it up. (Psst! If you want to draw everything free hand, that’s brilliant too!)

Need more inspiration? Check out creative ideas for leaf designs here and download a poster here so your neighbours can take part.

Save Our Street Trees campaigns for the protection and planting of urban street trees. It was founded by writer and journalist Alice Whitehead, who was increasingly concerned by the poor maintenance and disappearance of street trees in her home town of Northampton. While the main focus of its work is in Northamptonshire, it supports urban tree activities and initiatives all over the UK. Save Our Street Trees believes urban trees have huge benefits for the health and wellbeing of people and the planet – and these benefits are greater the closer trees are to where people live and work.
