Join our Trustee Abi for a circular walk around Highams Park lake, discover different tree species, trees old and young, and learn about the important roles trees play in our ecosystem and human history.

Take in the peaceful surroundings of Highams Park lake as you explore a variety of tree species in this scenic setting. Along the way, learn how trees contribute to local wildlife habitats, support climate resilience, and reflect the cultural and natural history of the area. This relaxed, guided walk offers opportunities to observe seasonal changes, ask questions, and enjoy time outdoors while deepening your understanding of the natural world.

A charity and membership organisation with a mission to inspire people about Epping Forest and to conserve and protect its biodiversity, culture, and heritage from East London to Epping in Essex.

Abi Young

Abi grew up in Yorkshire, where they spent most of their childhood exploring their local forest and enjoying hikes in the Peak District. Abi studied BSc Geography at Lancaster University and has gained a wealth of experience educating young people across the UK and beyond, through their work with community groups, sports coaching, schools and more. Abi moved to London in 2022, joining The Hive (formerly Suntrap) to work as an environmental educator in Epping Forest.

Inspired by the wonders of the natural world, Abi utilises their passion to inspire others to understand, connect with and protect nature. Abi is passionate about Queer Ecology, increasing inclusion and access to nature, as well as inspiring climate action through outdoor learning.
