Tree - Galia Admoni

One of the Top 40 submissions in our 2023 Urban Tree Festival writing competition.

Tree

I’m bashful under yesterday’s plastic bag veil /
Captive apples bathe in rainwater
and filth / A monolith of ancient aches / Your city brain
too fugged to see my smugness
underneath / A sundress / More corsets of
plastic / no nest / My chest
bursting to be Hirsted /
Pickled / preserved / worshipped
