Dancing with Trees

DANCERS A CALL TO ACTION

Could you help us celebrate urban trees by incorporating a living tree into your dance performance during The Urban Tree Festival May 14-22nd?

Traditionally, trees have played a central role in May time celebrations, as places to gather to celebrate and perform, but we feel that focus has been lost in recent years. Yet, as the effects of climate change increase, it is more important than ever that people recognise the vital role trees play in making the environment, less polluted, healthier, more resilient and biodiverse. This is especially true in urban environments where there is a disconnect from nature and the changing seasons.

So we ask performers ….

During the annual Urban Tree Festival 2022, May 14th-22nd, could you help us literally make a song and dance about the importance of urban trees by incorporating one into your performance? Dance around one, sing around one, process to one, decorate one -or something else … let your imagination go wild ….  and tell us about it?

Together, let’s put trees back into the centre of May time celebrations, where they belong.

As an example of what’s possible take a look at how The Friends of Wandsworth Park interpreted this idea with their May Tree Festival Remixed

Please get in touch with the Festival team telling us what you will do, where and when you will do it and your preferred channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, website …) and we’ll make sure to promote your performance during the #UrbanTreeFestival through our networks and channels.

We can provide a copy of the Urban Tree Festival logo for you to use too, so that your audience will know your performance is part of this National event.

We are looking forward to hearing about your plans.

Thank you
