Event Information
volunteering group finding ways to collectively be in the woodland throughout the year
Join the Forest Club at The Clearing in Lesnes Abbey Woods, from 10 am - 2 pm, on Thursday, 14th May. Engage with a range of ancient rural crafts and ways of supporting woodland management and biodiversity. Become familiar with sawing, cutting and splitting wood; using knives and axes; mastering the use of shave horses, spoon mules and pole lathes; learning to weave, cast metal and make furniture; making natural dyes, and more! All in relationship with and surrounded by the ancient woodlands, under a canopy with an open fire.
The Forest Club is a volunteering group finding ways to collectively be in the woodland throughout the year, meeting up every Thursday at The Clearing, our woodland site. We believe in the importance of mutually beneficial exchange based on the principles of reciprocity and care, as opposed to extractive, one-way relationships with each other and the earth. Being a part of the Urban Tree Festival would be a chance for anyone to come and join in with the types of crafts and woodland activities that the volunteers are engaged in weekly, and to find out ways to get involved in the wider Creative Nature project.
