A guided walk with interdisciplinary scholar Nhadya Simone Lawes who was born and raised in South Florida to Jamaican immigrants. This walk celebrates the protection of the Ms. Marline Grand Grapefruit Tree and gathering thoughts and feedback.

Event Information

A hybrid activation with interdisciplinary scholar and cultural practitioner, Nhadya Simone Lawes. This walk celebrates the protection of the grapefruit tree planted by Marline Calliste Anderson at 67 Queenstown Road. The in-person meeting will be complimented by a digital platform for gathering thoughts and feedback from participants and community members.

Participate
Nhadya will be leaving posters around the site of 67 Queenstown Road. So that participants can also find the tree themselves, and then post reflections and crowdsourced photos on an online platform.

Nhadya Simone Lawes is an interdisciplinary scholar and arts professional in pursuit of the “practical and the poetic” in the cultural sector. She was born and raised in South Florida to Jamaican immigrants and is a champion for art as memory, archive, and social practice. Nhadya is currently an MA Cities student at Central Saint Martins, developing her thesis, Infrastructures for Black Being.
