I produced a video artwork featuring a London plane tree on Hackney Downs, which was used in last year’s festival; as a slow video, it documents the tree’s response to seasonal and environmental changes over nearly five years through monthly photographs taken from the same locations, combined with audio recorded on-site and brief texts exploring the tree’s history, origins, and importance to the local community, city, and country, and it is ideally presented as a large-scale back-projected installation with accompanying sound.

Event Information

I produced a video / film on a London Plane Tree which was used in last year's festival.
As a 'slow video / artwork' it shows the tree reacting to the seasonal and environmental changes over a five year period.

It includes audio recorded live at the site of the tree and brief texts on the history, origins and importance of the tree, and its site, to the community, city and country.

Ideally it would be back projected into a viewing space at maximum size, e.g. floor to ceiling, with speakers for the sound.

Below is a link to the film on Youtube and the blurb I submitted last year.

London Plane Tree on Hackney Downs
Every month for nearly five years I photographed a London plane tree on Hackney Downs, East London from the same three spots. I ended up with hundreds of photos showing the tree, and its environment, reacting to seasonal and temporal changes.
I have put the photos together as a film / artwork and added audio recorded at the same location as the photos.
I have added brief texts on the history, origins and importance of the tree, and its site, to the community, city and country.
