Annie Lord

Annie Lord.jpg

Annie Lord is a visual artist and performer with a strong emphasis on participatory art. She trained in sculpture at The Slade School of Fine Art (London) before developing her work to encompass storytelling, live performance and community-based practice. Annie’s work explores geographic and cultural histories and the ways in which they shape the present. Performances draw on local history as well as having a fascination with material processes. In 2018 she began collaborating with Forth Rivers Trust, working on community focused, public art commissions in West Lothian exploring river pollution, the river ecosystem and the science of fish passes. In 2019 she was awarded a ‘Land Mark’ residency from Art Walk Porty to create a body of work relating to historic orchards in Portobello; in 2020 she was invited back to expand on this by working with local residents to create a community orchard using heritage apple varieties. Annie’s performances take the form of hand illustrated lantern lectures and have been presented at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Summerhall, Edinburgh Science Festival and Hidden Door Festival.
