Event Information

We often talk about the benefits of trees in facts and figures – carbon capture, heat island and flood mitigation, biodiversity. But our deepest connections with trees are rarely statistical. They’re emotional, personal, and rooted in story. It’s the tree where you had your first kiss or got engaged, the one at the end of your gran’s garden where you always sat to picnic on your summer visits, or the one you fell out of as a child. These moments, often forgotten or untold, are what make trees matter to people.

This webinar explores how storytelling can reignite our collective relationship with trees – as individuals, communities, and professionals. We’ll discuss why personal stories of trees are so powerful, how they’ve been used to engage and mobilise communities, and how they can help bridge the gap between where trees are needed and where they are wanted. From cultural heritage and folklore to personal memory and place-based identity, we’ll explore what it means to truly connect people to the urban forest – and why that matters more than ever.

Join us for an inspiring panel discussion featuring diverse voices from across sectors, and an open conversation about how we can all share the stories that root us to trees.
