The woodland holds more than just trees—it offers us a space for clarity, creativity and calm. This guided walking quest through the woodland at Memorial Hospital is an invitation to slow down, unplug and see things differently.
Using mindfulness, gentle movement and creative prompts, we’ll uncover hidden details in the landscape, track the movement of light and shadow and collect small moments of wonder along the way.
This event is being delivered as part of Memorial in Bloom and Urban Tree Festival 2025. It is funded by Greener Communities Fund, for Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.
We’ll explore:
Walking as a tool for clarity, creativity and balance
Small acts of noticing—tuning into our senses, observing the dance of light through leaves
The hidden patterns of trees — rings, roots and rhythms — and what they can teach us
Simple creative prompts using natural materials—stones, twigs, shadows and sound
A chance to slow down, breathe and feel a little lighter.
Who it’s for:
NHS staff looking for a fresh way to experience nature and creativity.
How it helps:
Encourages relaxation and clarity through mindful movement
Supports creative self-expression with simple, accessible techniques
Reduces digital overwhelm by fostering deep focus and presence
Boosts emotional resilience by reconnecting with natural rhythms.
No phones, no pressure, no expectations—just time to walk, breathe and notice what you’ve been missing.
Is this a fully accessible event?
The path is not flat and the woodland isn't fully accessible for all. If you have any specific accessibility requirements, please email hello [@] urbancuriosity.co.uk.
What should I wear?
Please dress in comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a natural, sometimes uneven path.
Are there toilets along the way?
No, the only toilets available are at the reception, so please use them before we set off.
Is this event suitable for all fitness levels?
Yes. This is a gentle walk suitable for many fitness levels. Unfortunately the woodland is not fully accessible at this stage.
