Healing with Hawthorn, and enriching our health with Elder

Hannah Sylvester is a specialist in connecting people, with nature. She’s passionate about leading guided Herb Walks and nature discovery sessions, helping people to build deeper connections with our native plant life.  She has worked as a registered Medical Herbalist for the last 10 years in Lincolnshire, and also lectures on the BSc Clinical Herbalism degree in Lincoln.

Healing with the Hawthorn tree: An introduction to our wonderful Hawthorn trees – the May flower and the autumn berry.

Steeped in history, humble Hawthorn not only provides glorious foliage and hedging for our streets, but also gifts us with a wealth of benefits for our health, especially the heart. Hear about its history, learn how you make different extracts from it in the home and see and hear about different types of preparations made from the flowers and the berries. There will be time after this session for any Q&A’s. Enriching our health with Elder 23rd May

10.30 - 11.15An introduction to learning from the Elder tree, its rich and varied folklore, and medicinal and culinary delights.

Coming into flower at this time of the year, there is no better time to reconnect with one of our more bountiful flowering trees, and develop skills in creating beneficial and tasty extracts from it in the home, as well as watching it develop vibrant autumn berries, which have a valued place in keeping us health over the winter month. There will be time after this session for Q&A’s.
